Teeth whitening is a procedure with many variables. We must first determine if the staining on your teeth is intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic stains are stains that occur from drinking coffee and wine, smoking, and so on. These stains are very effective at being removed by whitening.
Intrinsic stains, which are stains in the tooth, are more difficult to remove. Age, genetics, and teeth grinding are just a few of the factors that will determine how effective whitening will be on intrinsic stains.
We will do an assessment beforehand to determine if whitening will have good results for you or not. We can also discuss expectations for your whitening procedure at that time.
How long will this take?
We offer one hour teeth whitening in our office, which can make your teeth several shades whiter in just one visit. The whitening gel is applied and a special light used for 15 minutes, and this process is repeated three times for a total of 45 minutes of treatment.
For those who would prefer to whiten their teeth at home, we can make custom trays for you and provide you with whitening gel. If you wear the trays for 30 minutes to an hour each day, after about a week, you will notice that your teeth are several shades lighter.
